The cozy holiday season is upon us! What reminds us of sweet holidays past (and the copious amounts of food consumed) while visiting with friends and family? One of the most traditional, beloved American desserts, Spiced Pumpkin Pie! This is NOT a workshop intended to show you how to open a can of pureed pumpkin and put together a traditional recipe. We will quite literally be choosing a Sugar Pie Pumpkin from our pumpkin patch, walking it into our private, licensed kitchen here at Athol Orchards and I will show you step by step how to turn a freshly harvested pumpkin into an absolutely breathtaking, sumptuous pumpkin pie. This is an in depth, step by step workshop. We will provide absolutely everything you need! All you need to do is arrive on time! We will be providing all ingredients, pie pans, take-home boxes, the pumpkins and how to process them properly, and I will even be providing each guest a ball of our famous Athol Orchards pie pastry dough to prepare your pie crust. We will have Autumn-themed cut outs, and different techniques for making your crusts look absolutely magazine worthy. If you'd like to learn my secret to a perfectly traditional hand-crimped crust, I'll be happy to share that as well! To top off our time together, we will have some cozy refreshments for you to enjoy as we toil over our pumpkins. By the time you leave you'll have made new local North Idaho friends, become a bit more self-sufficient, learned a valuable skill in producing a finished ( EXTREMELY SINFUL) product with the humble yet timeless gourd that is the pumpkin, and be bringing home perhaps the most amazing, freshest pumpkin pie you and your family have ever enjoyed.
